This is the third Mitzi's location to open in the city, and while it emerged on the strength of its predecessors, Mitzi's on College has quickly become a destination for the hungry morning-after crowd in Toronto's mid-west end. Line-ups are to be expected, but turnover is relatively efficient and the food is, very truly, worth the wait.
Dishes like the oatmeal pancakes (which are served with whipped cream, fruit compote and home fries) are both decadent and nutrient dense. Poached eggs are jazzed up by caramelized leek or a spicy chipotle cornmeal pancake with avocado and sour cream (plus home fries and toast).
Most menu options hit the $13.75 price point, which makes Mitzi's on College a slightly more expensive brunch option than many of its competitors. However, with generous servings and spot-on quality, Mitzi's on College is a special treat not to be missed by discerning brunchers.

Mitzi’s newest outpost is spotless and bright. By 11 a.m. on weekends, both the big room and the enormous patio (during clement months) are jammed with bedraggled coolsters and families with toddlers in tow. The menu is small but every bit as good as that of the other spots, carrying over such favourites as the inch-thick oatmeal-buttermilk pancake, slathered with blueberries, Saint-André cheese and maple syrup. Other standards include a fluffy omelette stuffed with shredded corned beef, queso fresco and zingy hot peppers. Spicy new potato home fries and generously buttered sourdough toast make for a mountainous plate. Excellent fresh juices.

So this is lucky number three and it's the newest edition to the Mitzi's family. Mitzi's on College will delight residents in the Portuguese village – College and Ossington with its brunch fare such as brand favourites like sourdough toast, home fries and oatmeal buttermilk pancakes. A few new treats have been added to spice up the menu; you'll have to head over (early if you want seating, but you already knew that) and see for yourself.

Italian Sausage and Red Pepper Omelette... the new College Street outpost of Mitzi's serves up an airy egg envelope stuffd with spicy sausage and asiago cheese; the sourdough toast alone is worth the lineup.
