Tucked away in residential Roncesvalles Village, this all-day brunch spot – first born sib to nearby Mitzi's Sister – is quiet and intimate. Part neighbourhood cafe, part exhibition space for local artists, diners can enjoy an early morning meal in the sun or on the picnic bench seating outdoors.
A rendering of sexy 1950s pin-up Mitzi Gaynor hangs above the front door. From the open-air kitchen come thick, fluffy omelettes, challah French toast and golden buttermilk oatmeal pancakes.
The stuffings and toppings change on a weekly basis: one week may feature sambuca-infused creme anglaise and toasted coconut atop flapjacks; the next may see calimyrna figs in calvados sauce. A weekday lunch menu serves up such hearty, healthy offerings as tomato, kale and navy bean soup.
